With an altitude of 1,500m, an average temperature of just 17°C and dawns often bathed in early-morning mist, it's easy to see what lured the early explorers, including bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin, whose name you'll see adorning street signs across Vietnam.

Da Lat’s specific sights are pine wood (forming the name: “City of thousands of pine trees”) with twisting roads and tree marigold blossom in the winter. The city’s temperate weather stands in contrast to Vietnam’s otherwise tropical climate. Mist covering the valleys almost year-round leads to its name “City of eternal spring”. With its ideal weather, Da Lat is also one of Vietnam's premiere destinations for honeymooners. For others, Da Lat offers an excellent opportunity to explore some of Vietnam's hinterland, sample its outstanding produce and vacation.


 
Da Lat is slowly but surely gaining a reputation as being Vietnam's outdoor activity centre, with a number of places running all kinds of trips in the surrounding Highlands - the perfect location for hill-trekking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing and canyoning.
